Itinerary

Day 1: Lisbon
We’ll transfer you to the hotel and you’ll have some free time. In the afternoon, you’ll find information about the start of your tour on the boards located at the hotel reception. Enjoy your free schedule until the official activities begin.
Day 2: Lisbon
In the morning, enjoy a 2-hour city tour of the Portuguese capital with a local guide, visiting Eduardo VII Park, Baixa Pombalina, Rossio square, Estrela neighborhood, and the iconic Belém Tower and Jerónimos Monastery. You’ll have free time in the afternoon to explore at your leisure, or take an optional excursion to Sintra, Cascais, and Estoril. At 8:30 p.m., we’ll return to the hotel from the lively Restauradores Square.
Day 3: Lisbon - Lagos - Cape St. Vincent - Albufeira
We depart Lisbon, crossing the long bridge over the Tagus River to reach the Algarve region. We stop in historic Lagos to explore its ancient walls and port before heading to Cape St. Vincent, the westernmost point of the European continent, to admire the breathtaking ocean cliffs. After a brief photo stop at the Sagres fortress, we continue to the popular coastal city of Albufeira, where you can stroll its lively historic center and enjoy the beaches.
Day 4: Albufeira - Mértola - Évora
We start the morning with a visit to Faro, the small capital of the Algarve with a beautifully walled historic center. Next, we journey into the Alentejo region to explore Mértola, a walled town-museum dominated by an imposing castle. We conclude our day in Évora, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where we visit the unique Chapel of Bones (admission included) and explore its ancient Roman temples and medieval palaces.
Day 5: Évora - Marvão - Castelo de Vide - Tomar - Fátima
We depart Évora for Marvão, a picturesque walled town offering fantastic panoramic views. Next, we visit Castelo de Vide to explore its grand castle, narrow streets, and ancient Jewish quarter for lunch. In the afternoon, we include admission to the immense Convent of Christ in Tomar, a legendary Templar stronghold. We conclude our day in Fátima with a brief stop in the village of Aljustrel to visit Lucia’s house. Dinner is included at the sanctuary town.
Day 6: Fátima - Porto
We head north through pleasant green hills toward Porto. Upon arrival, we board a traditional Portuguese ‘Rabelo’ boat for a 50-minute cruise along the Douro River, passing under six iconic bridges, including the Dom Luís I Bridge. While cruising, we’ll enjoy a delicious tasting of authentic Port wine. The rest of the afternoon is yours to explore the medieval, cobblestone streets of the Ribeira district before our hotel transfer.
Day 7: Porto - Braga - Guimarães - Bom Jesus - Pinhão - Coimbra
We explore Braga, the religious heart of Portugal, where we ride the world’s oldest water-driven cable car up to the Bom Jesus Sanctuary (ticket included). Next, we enjoy free time and lunch in Guimarães, Portugal’s first capital. We then journey through the stunning vineyard landscapes of the Douro Valley, making a stop in Sabrosa and enjoying a scenic cruise along the Douro River in Pinhão, before arriving in Coimbra for an included dinner.
Day 8: Coimbra - Batalha - Nazaré - Óbidos - Lisbon
After breakfast, we explore the historic center of Coimbra, home to one of the world’s oldest universities. Next, we include entry to the massive medieval Batalha Monastery, a pivotal national mausoleum. We then head to the picturesque fishing town of Nazaré, including an elevator ride to the old city perched atop a cliff for stunning ocean views. We wrap up our tour with a walk through the medieval walled town of Óbidos before returning to Lisbon.
Day 9: Lisbon
After breakfast, our journey will come to an end, leaving you with wonderful lasting memories.
